My Search for God
Do you remember when you were little and you would play a game of hide and seek? One thing I remember vividly is the way it felt when I was “IT”. I can sum it up in one word: Lonely. I used to dread having to look for people, but I loved the feeling I got when I found the first person. It meant that I was no longer “IT.” The person whom I had found now had my burden and became “IT” on the next round. Is it coming back to you yet?

The Bible records the ultimate game of Hide and Seek. We are lonely, lost and sick of being “IT.” We are desperate for an encounter with God. Just like in the game, if we search for God diligently we will find Him. Except unlike the game, God is not hiding from us. When we find Him he then takes our sin burden and carries it away, In response we repent and turn away from our sins. God gives us every capability to find Him. One way to start is through His Word. It is a reassuring feeling to know that I will never be “IT” again in my relationship to God.

Devotional
Just give your cares to the Lord. It really is that simple, and when you turn them over to God, don’t pick them up and take them with you again, just leave them in God’s hands.

The pressure is off, the weight is gone
Cast your care on Jesus and keep moving on
The road may seem long, the battle may be raging
Cast your care on Jesus and find that His strength is amazing
Don't look back, just leave that last battle behind
Cast your care on Jesus and step back in line
Don't look to the left, or to the right
Cast your care on Jesus and everything will be alright
Hold tight to His words, and retreat only for prayer
Cast your care on Jesus, he has promised to always be there

Matthew 6:25~27

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

The bible says that king David encouraged himself in the Lord. (1Sam30:6) These verses give us some guidelines as to how we can do that. Is there some area of your life that you have been struggling with? Does it seem like fear is holding you hostage? Today, ask God to help you as you encourage yourself by saying, today I will do something different with this difficult thing in my life. It is like setting a goal for ourselves. Today I will __________. If you fail, start over. If you have to start over 100 times in a day, keep trying don’t give up. Keep on saying: I will.

It is important to understand that the key to God giving us the desires of our heart is in committing our lives to Him. As we truly surrender our life to God, his desires begin to become our desires. His desire is to save the lost and heal the broken hearted. God has a plan and purpose for our lives. If we are committed to following his plan, then he will only give to us what he has planned for us.
