We are never alone...

Psalm 27:4-10 (New International Version)
4 One thing I ask of the LORD,

this is what I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD

and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble

he will keep me safe in his dwelling;

he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle

and set me high upon a rock.
6 Then my head will be exalted

above the enemies who surround me;

at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy;

I will sing and make music to the LORD.
7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD;

be merciful to me and answer me.
8 My heart says of you, "Seek his [a] face!"

Your face, LORD, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me,

do not turn your servant away in anger;

you have been my helper.

Do not reject me or forsake me,

O God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,

the LORD will receive me.

The Importance of FRIENDSHIP!!

Scriptures
John21: 5
He (Jesus) called out to them, “Friends haven't you any fish”
1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Devotion
Today my heart is stirred to talk about the importance of friendship. School has just begun and many of the prayer request that teenagers are sending in are related to needing friends. First, let me say that God is the most faithful friend you will ever have. God is with us all of the time, he is never too busy to spend time with us. So we are friends of God. All throughout the New Testament we see the words “dear friends.” So friendship is important to God. Let me share an encouraging story of how God answered my prayer when I was attending a new public school at age 16.

I was a new Christian and wanted to meet other Christians in school. The first day of school I prayed that I would meet Christians. Before attending classes, we were required to meet in a large gymnasium where hundreds of students gathered for orientation. Other students that I did not know surrounded me. There was a girl sitting to my right and as I looked down at the bleachers on top of the pile of books that she had set next to me was a bible in plain sight. I leaned over and said, “ Are you a Christian” she replied “Yes I am.” She then invited me to a Christian group that met after school. This invitation by just one friend opened the door to many other friendships. That was the beginning of a life long friendship with her. God is amazing! I am now able to pray with great faith for others who need friends because of what God did for me. Today trust him to bring friends into your life and also reach out to others to be a friend to them. Friendship is so important, no one likes feeling alone.

Live a Holy Life

Scripture
1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
Colossians 3:8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
1 Thessalonians 4:4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

Devotion
The bible instructs us to live a holy life. To live a holy life means we try to do the things that are pleasing to God and live according to the standards he sets forth in the bible. We know that we can only be made perfectly holy through God's forgiveness. For we all fall short of the Glory of God, however, God is quick to forgive us when we repent and keep trying to do the right things in our lives. As our scriptures indicate; it is our responsibility to “rid ourselves” of ungodly behaviors and to “cloth ourselves” with godly ones. We do our best to live as God instructs and try not to get discouraged when we make mistakes. There is no condemnation from God because he loves us, he knows the beginning from the end, and he knows our strengths and our weaknesses. The key word is working! We are not alone in our attempts to live holy lives. As we begin to apply the principles from the bible to our lives, God meets us with his grace (ability) and helps change us into his image. The bible says “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 God is working with us because he loves us and has promised that he will never leave us.

Hidden With Christ in God

He Will Give Life To Your Mortal Bodies (the living word).

Scripture
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

Devotion
Early one morning as I was reading the bible these living words jumped off of the page, “he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” I didn't understand why they had come to life inside of me until 11:30pm that night. The call came in around 9:30pm that my sister in-law, had been admitted into the emergency room at the local hospital. She was admitted due to a drug over dose, the emergency room doctor had told her mom that she was in serious condition and very well may not live.

My wife was a nurse, as soon as we reached the emergency room she talked to the doctor and the nurses. She then explained to me the medical reasons why her sister wouldn't live. My wife was not a believer. As we sat outside, while she smoked a cigarette, the words I had read that morning came back to me so clearly. I told my wife that her sister wouldn't die but she firmly disagreed with me, telling me that I didn't understand medically what has happened to her body. I then shared my experience earlier that morning when I was studying and how God caused his words to come alive in my spirit. I shared God’s word with her stating, “ he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” Suddenly, I felt a supernatural, God- given faith, arise inside of me. I knew that I had to get into her room and pray for her. A half hour went by and finally I was allowed to go into the room where she was unconscious. I laid my hand upon her and spoke God’s word with every ounce of faith that he had given me, “The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead will quicken your mortal body and give you live.” The tears streamed from my eyes. As I prayed this simple prayer, I felt a supernatural flow of compassion moving in the words that I had spoken. It was one hour later that we were allowed to enter the room again where she was propped upright and conscious. With a silly grin she looked at me and said, “hey preacher man it's good to see you.” she did not die.
God is amazing!

Ask the Lord to cause his word to come alive in supernatural ways in your life. Use your faith and trust God. Spend time with God by reading your bible often, so that God can speak to you too.
